- Wrestling Match - The Patriot Wrestling Team lost a hard fought match against West Lincoln yesterday at the Tri-County Conference Championship match. We are extremely proud of their accomplishments this season! Way to go team...and Coach Ash and Coach Farquharson!

- No Cheerleading Practice today or tomorrow. Practice on Wednesday.
- KM vs Shelby in Wrestling Playoffs at home starting at 4:00 on Tuesday, December 11th. Come out as our wrestling team!
- Cleveland Early College High School will have three remaining open house dates for students and parents who are interested in our program. Those dates are: Thursday, January 24th; Thursday, February 21st; and Thursday, March 14th. All open house events will begin with a presentation at 6:00pm. Only students who have verified attendance at one of these open house events are eligible to submit an application to you no later than Friday, March 22nd. The application packet is greatly streamlined and should take no more than 30 minutes to complete. We will gather information and a writing sample from students when they attend their mandatory interview during the week of April 8th. You may access applications directly from CECHS webpage or students can see Mrs. Myers for an application.
- The Nutcracker Ballet is being performed by Kimberla's School of Ballet this weekend at the Joy Theater in Kings Mountain (202 South Railroad Avenue). Performances are Saturday, Dec. 15th at 6pm and Sunday, Dec. 16th at 4pm. Tickets are $10 each. You can order advance tickets or pay at the door. Doors open 1 hour before each performance. Railroad Ave, KM) - Fun Run (600 meter) starts at 10am - 5K/10K immediately following the Fun Run - Race day packet pickup and registration: 8-9:30am at KM Joy Theater - For those that registered early...Packet Pickup will be Friday Nov. 30th 3-8:30pm at the KM Joy Theater - Come out and support our "Girls on the Run" group that will be running that day! This group is sponsored by Mrs. Short.
- We have a Robotics Team that will be traveling to Concord, NC this Saturday to compete in a regional competition. We wish them lots of luck! Go Patriots!

- Beta Club is going to be decorating 3 Christmas trees at Summit Place on Thursday, November 29th. Members are asked to bring ornaments for the trees. (1.) Peace Tree: white ornaments, angel ornaments, dove ornaments (2.)Starry Night, Holy Night Tree: blue & silver ornaments, silver tinsel, manger or any religious ornaments (3.) Patriot Tree: red, white or blue ornaments, red tinsel and/or any type of ornament that will fit the patriotic theme.

- There is a school dance tomorrow...and we have a new DJ! The correct time of the dance is 3:15 until 5:15. The times posted on our blog yesterday were incorrect. Please have rides here on time. Students will be given a ticket as they pay to get into the dance ($5)...and drawings will be made for free drinks and pizza.
- Tomorrow is the DEADLINE for the 2nd payment for the Wilmington trip ($130)!
- Students that had make-up pictures made should have received their proofs. Money for pictures needs to be returned to school by Monday.
- Students will be out of school next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for Thanksgiving break.
- Our lost and found is full...lots of coats, sweatshirts, and jackets...plus other stuff. Students need to stop by Mrs. Crawford's room if they are missing something!

- Volleyball Tryouts - Any (7th and 8th grade) cheerleader who is interested in trying out for volleyball must attend volleyball tryouts on Monday and Tuesday (this is because of the football game on Wednesday). For everyone else, tryouts are as follows: 7th grade - Monday and Tuesday of next week; 8th grade - Wednesday and Thursday of next week. Tryouts will last from 3:20 - 5:30 each day. For other questions, please see Mrs. Robinson.
- Wrestling - There will be no wrestling practice on Thursday.
- Early Dismissal - Students will be dismissed at 1pm tomorrow for parent/teacher conferences.

- End of the first nine weeks is coming up on October 26th.
- Fall picture proofs were sent home with students. If you would like to purchase pictures, money and picture form should be returned to the student's WIN teacher. Make-up day is November 6th.
- Report cards will be issued on November 6th.
- We still have chocolate to sell. If you would like to help us raise money for technology, please see Mrs. England in the front office. Our goal is to sell at least 350 boxes. That would allow us to raise $10,500! Prizes will be awarded to the top sales person in each grade. We will also put the name of each person that sells at least one box into a drawing for additional prizes.
- Yearbooks are also on sale. There is ordering information on our school website. Get your book while supplies last...and before the price goes up!

- October is National Bully Prevention Month and KMMS is going to stand united against bullying by wearing ORANGE to school on Wednesday, October 10th.
- Students will be dismissed at 1pm on October 11th for parent/teacher conferences. Please call 704-476-8340 to schedule a conference.
- 8th graders will watch a performance sponsored by the Art's Council at 9:30 on Tuesday, October 9th in the gym.
- Students who have not been approved for free and reduced priced meals for the (2012-2013) school year, will begin paying full price for meals on Tuesday, October 9th. All households are mailed notification letters when their application is processed. Parents should contact Child Nutrition immediately at 704-476-8127 if they have any concerns about their students status.
- Coming up this next week: 10/8 Softball/Soccer at home vs Burns; Golf at KMCC (make-up match) - 10/9 Softball/Soccer at NL; Golf at Riverbend - 10/10 Football at WL; Softball/Soccer at EL
- Rock and Fun Day - reward for fall sales will be on 10/26 during PE class.
- KM defeated Lincolnton 12-1 yesterday. Kassidy Hamrick pitched a complete game for the Patriots. Ashton Withers had 4 hits. Madison Hoyle had a triple. Briasia White and Destiny Hamrick Hamrick had doubles. Next game is Monday at home vs. Burns.
- The top 3, and 5 of the top 10 girl cross country runners in the conference this year are from Kings Mountain Middle. Kaitlyn Moss crossed the line on the 2-mile Kings Mountain course in first place, followed by Virginia Dellinger in second, and Meridith Wyte in third. Kayla Capps finished ninth, and Brooke Patterson tenth, followed by Montanna Smith, Carmen Henwood, and Ashley Sprenger all in the top 22 out of a field of 90 runners. The girls finished first in each meet this season, after a second place finish in the conference last year.
The boys team was led by Austin McKee in sixth, Landon Ervin in twentieth. Others scoring for KMMS were Lane Bell, Bryson Key, and Michael Sparks. - Picture proofs will be given to students on Monday. They must return the form with the money to purchase pictures.

Jake Merchant had 3 TD 30yd passing TD and 2 rushing TD. Kavin Mosely had 2 TD 65yd passing TD and a Defensive fumble return for TD. Darrren Burns had 1 rushing and 2 passing TD. Patriots scored on first three possesions and never looked back leading at half 30-6. Defense played great as a team causing 3 fumbles and interception.

- KMMS boys soccer team played their first conference game against East Lincoln at home yesterday. KMMS' Brian Lysek scored with an assist from Micah Randall early in the first half. KMMS was able to hold EL scoreless until the last 2 minutes when EL scored a goal. KMMS and EL went into double overtime. Neither team was able to score. Final score 1-1.
- Kings Mountain football team played Shelby this past Wednesday. The score was KM 6 Shelby 19. Darren McClain scored our only touchdown. Defense gave up two big plays...50 yd pass and 55 yd run. Our next game will be this coming Wednesday at home against Burns. Come out and support our Patriots!
- The KMMS Cross Country team had their first meet on September 10 at West Lincoln. The girls took first place with Kaitlyn Moss finishing first, Virginia Dellinger second, Meredith Wyte third, Kayla Capps eighth, and Ashley Sprenger tenth overall. The boys placed third with Austin McKee finishing finishing second and Landon Ervin seventh overall. Also scoring for the KMMS boys were Lane Bell, Bryson Key, and Michael Summers. The next meet is Monday, September 17th at North Lincoln.

- Monday is a holiday...no school for students or teachers.
- 8th Grade Wilmington Trip - The first payment of $60 is due by September 28, 2012. There will be two additional payments of $130 each (11/16 and 2/15). If the second payment is not made by November 16th, the student will be removed from the trip and the initial deposit will not be refunded. The dates for the trip are April 24th - 27th. The first 152 students that pay will have a seat on the trip. Anyone sending money after this will be placed on a waiting list.
