- Parent Teacher Conferences - Students will be dismissed at 1pm on October 10th for parent-teacher conferences. Please call the school at 704-476-8340 to schedule a conference time between 1-6:45pm.
- Chocolate for Technology - We will begin our annual World's Finest Chocolate sell on October 3rd. Money or unsold chocolate will be due on October 22nd. Students must have a letter with signed permission from a parent/guardian in order to pick up chocolate. Prizes will be awarded for top sellers...Overall winner - 2 Carolina Panthers tickets, Top 8th Grade - $100, Top 7th Grade - $100. Everyone that sells a box of chocolate will have his/her name entered into a drawing for one of six $50 prizes.

- No soccer practice today!
- Football game will still be played today.
- Softball will practice until 4:30 in the gym.
- Golf practice is as usual.
- KMMS soccer team played North Lincoln on 9/24. KMMS lost 6 -1. KMMS played a good offensive and defensive game.
- Softball team lost yesterday 20-0. Catie Payne and Josie Lowery had hits for Kings Mountain. Next game is tomorrow @ home vs. Burns.
- We had a great crowd of students that met this morning for the 2013 "See You at the Pole" Rally. There will be a community event tonight at the KMHS auditorium at 7pm.
- Our new sign is being installed today! Many thanks to all of the parents and community members that helped to make this possible!

- Picture day is TOMORROW! This is the picture that will be used in the yearbook.
- Spanish Club - 9/25 (tomorrow) - after school until 4pm - in Mrs. Cole's room
- KMMS Sign - Our new school sign is going up tomorrow! We are very excited! This will be another way for us to share important information!
- Cross Country - KMMS hosted the county cross country meet yesterday. The boys team placed 5 runners in the top 9, but finished second to Crest who had the top 3 runners. Placing for KMMS were Landry Crawford, Bryson Key, Alec Bell, Thomas Harrison, and John Harris. The girls were edged out for second place by Shelby, but had 2 runners in the top 9. Placing for KMMS were Georgia Moss, Caroline Foster, Baylee Marr, Savannah Slater, and Belle Hollifield. The season will conclude with the conference meet next Monday at North Lincoln.
- Book Fair - September 23-27 - Students will have opportunities throughout the week to shop at the book fair in our media center. As AR is gearing up to full speed, this is a great opportunity to pick up some of the popular titles...that may be difficult to find on our library shelf! We also have an Online Book Fair going on...just in case you are unable to make a purchase at school.

- Boy's Soccer - KMMS played Lincolnton Middle yesterday. Lincolnton scored the first goal of the game. KMMS quickly answered with a goal by Brandon Quevido-Johns. Lincolnton scored two more goals before KMMS rallied and Chase Yow scored a goal. At the end of the 1st half, the score was 2 to 5. KMMS held Lincolnton to only one score in the 2nd half. KMMS defensive players should be commended for the efforts. Defensive players were Holden Bullock in goal, Travis Wright, Mason Nyguen, Michael Allen, Mitchell Hord, Parker Rollins and Kaleb Estridge. Final score 2 to 6. Lincolnton with the win.
- Softball - Kings Mountain defeated Lincolnton 18-1. Catie Payne and Kameron Marr pitched for the Lady Patriots. Makena Deaton, Cassi Melton and Catie Payne all had multiple hits. Sarah Drennan, Emily Graham, & MC May also had hits for the Patriots. Next game is Tuesday @ North Lincoln.

- Golf - On Tuesday, 9-17-2013, the KMMS golf team played at KM Country Club against East Lincoln and West Lincoln. The team score was KM 153, EL 181, and WL 183 (lower score wins). The Patriots were led by Alex Goff with a score of 1 under, 35. Tyler Withers came in with a 37, Harrison Conner 39, and Natalie Lutz with a 42. These four golfers came in 1st - 4th positions overall out of 18 golfers; with Alex Goff being the medalist. Our next match is next Tuesday at KM Country Club.

- Progress Reports - were sent home with students yesterday!
- Gateway to a Cure - 5K Run/Walk - 8am on Saturday, October 12, 2013 - Last year, while attending Kings Mountain Middle School, Scotty Hill, was diagnosed with Stage Four Rhabdomyosarcoma Renal Tumors and was unable to attend school the remainder of the school year. He is still having ongoing treatment. A fellow classmate, Meridith Wyte, is sponsoring this race in order to raise funds to help with his medical expenses. The race will start and finish at the Gazebo located in Patriot's Park in Downtown Kings Mountain. Cost is $20 until September 21st and $25 from September 22nd until race day. - Sports Update - KMMS defeated NL yesterday 22-20. We scored with a 60 yard pass to Mike Toms from Hunter Blanton...with a 2 pt. conversion run by Sabiem Beam. Michael Collins scored a touchdown with a failed attempt at a 2 pt. conversions. Paul Culbreth ran a 48 yard touchdown with a 2 pt. conversion pass to Mike Toms in the 3rd quarter.

- Today is the deadline for turning in Fall Fundraiser money.
- Students that participated in the fall fundraiser will be able to participate in "Rock and Fun Day" during PE on 9/20.
- There will be concessions sold for softball and soccer. This is new for KMMS since we have our new concession stand! All of the proceeds from concessions will go toward our new school sign.
- Girls on Track has started! They will meet each Monday until 4:15! Be sure to bring your running shoes! See Mrs. Short or Mrs. Blaine for more information.
- Picture Day is September 25th! This is the picture that will be used for the yearbook!
- Yearbooks will go on sale in October! More info to come!
- Fall Dance - October 4th from 6-8:30! If you would like to chaperone or donate drinks, candy or snacks that can be sold during the dance, please see Mrs. Heffner in the front office. We will only have a limited number of dances this year. Our next dance will be in January (a semi-formal dance).

- Girls on Track is a non-profit after school program that uses the power of running to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self respect and healthy living. During the 10-12 week program, girls are empowered with a greater sense of achievement and a foundation to help them become strong, contented, and self-confident young women. Along the way, the girls will train together to walk or run the Jingle Bell Rockin' Run 5K (3.1 miles) in December in Kings Mountain. - Football Scrimmage Update from last week - The KMMS football team played to an 8-8 tie against Northview (Hickory). Hunter Blanton scored from 1 yard out and then threw the 2 point conversion to JT Cash to tie the game with less than three minutes to go.
- The KMMS cross country team ran in a five team meet yesterday at SMS. The boys finished second with Landry Crawford finishing first overall, Bryson Key second, Alec Bell third and John Harris sixth. Also scoring for KMMS was Max Johnson. The girls finished third and were led by Georgia Moss, Caroline Foster, Isabella Hollifield, Baylee Marr, and Gracie Plonk. The next meet is next Monday at Lincolnton.
- Softball - The Patriots softball team played extremely well on Saturday at the County Scrimmage. Outstanding players were Catie Payne, Paige Rollins, MC May, and Logan Locklair. First game is today @ Burns.
- KMMS boys soccer team played 2 scrimmage games on Saturday, Sept 7th. KMMS faced Crest in the first game. KMMS lost 0-2. KMMS faced Shelby Middle School in the second game. Orlando Sanchez scored the first goal of the game for KMMS. Chase Yow scored the second goal of the game for KMMS. KMMS won with a final score of score 2-1.
