- Make-up Picture Day - October 30th - Picture forms are available in the front office!
- County Scrimmage - We are gearing up for our early winter sports...volleyball and wrestling. Each team will scrimmage on November 2nd. Wrestling will scrimmage at Shelby at 12pm...Volleyball will scrimmage at Crest at 10:30pm. Each team will have their first regular season game on November 5th. Volleyball will be at home against Burns...the wrestling team will travel to Burns.
- Report Cards - We have started a new nine weeks grading period. Report cards will go home with students on November 7th.

- Golf - Congratulations to this year's golf team for making it two years in a row with an undefeated season. This year's team went 19-0! They claimed the Tri-County Conference Championship on October 22nd by defeating 8 other teams. Kings Mountain shot 317. Crest was second with 336, and North Lincoln was third with 345. KM was led by Alex Goff with 72 (1st out of 54), Tyler Withers with 76 (4th overall), Trenton Carson with 83 (8th overall), and Natalie Lutz with 86 (14th overall). The team was coached by David McDonald. Way to go, Patriots!
- Yearbooks - Yearbooks are now on sale! They are $30 until December 20, 2013. After Dec. 20th, the price will go up to $35. Additional purchase options include: (Option A - $5) student name imprinted in foil in lower right hand corner, (Option B - $5 + $3 for each icon) student name and up to four icons imprinted in foil in lower right corner...icons will be to the right of the name. Orders may be submitted in the front office or online. The theme for this year's book is 3D. Students will receive a pair of 3D glasses to be able to see 3D pictures on the cover and throughout the book.

- Golf - The golf team has a match today at Lincolnton Country Club. This is the Tri-County Conference Match. Students will be dismissed from school at 9:30 this morning. We wish them the best! Go Patriots!!!
- Football - Our football team will play in a conference playoff game at Shelby this Wednesday at 5pm...come out and support the Patriots!!! This past week KM defeated Burns 42-0. Mike Collins put our first points on the board with a 15 yard touchdown run. Blanton passed to Toms for a 20 yard touchdown...the 2 pt was also successful with a pass to Toms. Mike Collins ran a 54 yard touchdown. Pressley blocked the punt and recovere
- Chocolate Money - is due today!!!
- KMHS Campus - Students are not allowed to walk to the KMHS campus to catch a ride with a friend or sibling. They must wait at the middle school to be picked up or make other arrangements. The high school will treat this as trespassing and will take actions against those that are entering their campus in the afternoons. This is for the safety of our students.
- College Day - KMHS is hosting a college application week during the week of November 19th. On Friday, November 22nd, we will also celebrate "College Day!" On this day, we are encouraging students to wear the colors of their favorite college.
- Soccer - KMMS men soccer met North Lincoln at home on Oct 15. KMMS came out strong scoring first with a goal by Chase Yow. Justin Watkins had the assist. KMMS quickly scored again with a goal by Brandon Quevedo-Johns. NL scored before the half ended. At the end of the first half KMMS led by 2. In the second half, NL scored a goal tying the game. In the last 2 minutes of the game, NL managed to break away and scored another goal. Final score KMMS 2 and NL 3. KMMS mens soccer had a good season. KMMS' record is not indicative of the skill and heart of its players.

- Parent-Teacher Conferences - Please make sure that you call the front office to schedule a conference (704-476-8340). Conferences are booked in 15 minute intervals so that parents have ample time to speak with all teachers on the team. At this point, our schedules are getting very full. If you just drop in, it may put our scheduled meetings behind. If you are unable to attend today but would like to meet with your child's teachers, please contact the school and teachers will schedule a time during their planning or after school. - Softball - The KM Patriots defeated Lincolnton this week 10-8. Catie Payne pitched a complete game. MC May and Morgan Stancil both had 2 hits for the Patriots. Jami Nivens, Makena Deaton, Paige Rollins, and Cassi Melton also had hits. Next game is Monday @ Shelby.
- Soccer - KMMS played Lincolnton at home on Oct 8. Lincolnton came out strong and scored the first 3 goals of the game. KMMS answered with a goal by Orlando Sanchez and Brandon Quevado-Johns had the assist before the end of the 1st half. Lincolnton scored the first goal in the second half, but KMMS rallied. Chase Yow scored for KMMS and then quickly scored again. Brandon Quevado-Johns had the assist. KMMS had several shots on goal, but was not able to score. The final score was KMMS 3 -Lincolnton 5.
- Football - KM Patriots defeated Lincolnton Middle 38-36 on 10-9. 1st score 62yd pass from Blanton to Toms. 2pt failed. 2nd score 18yd pass from Blanton to Bell. 2pt failed. 3rd score 35yd fumble recovery return Crawford. 2pt run Collins. 4th score 16yd run from Collins. 2pt pass Blanton to Toms. 5th score safety Pressley and Brittain. 6th score Collins 6yd run. 2pt pass Blanton to Toms. Our defense really played well in the second half holding Lincolnton to only 8 points. I am really proud of the effort of this team and excited about the no quit attitude we played with. We have a big next game week with Burns. Our record is 3-1 and we are in a 3 way tie for first. Next game 10-16 at Burns.
- Field Trip - The Waveriders will be traveling to South Mountain tomorrow for a field trip.
- Fall PE/PTO Fundraiser - Congratulations to our top seller - Makenzie Huffman with $407.50 in sales - We would like to thank everyone for supporting our school!

- Football - Tomorrow is our last home game. All KMMS students will be admitted for free. We will also have a pep rally in our gym at 2:30...led by our KMMS cheerleaders.

Our next meeting is Monday, October 14th. Our parent representatives are Precious Phelps and Shanna Withers.
- Chocolate Fundraiser - Our chocolate sale is off to a GREAT start! We have extra boxes in the front office in case there are others that choose to participate. Students must have a form signed by a parent/guardian in order to receive a box. Money raised from this event will help us to purchase technology for our school. All money is due on October 22nd. Prizes include: Overall - 2 Panthers Tickets, Top 7th and 8th grade - $100, six $50 prize drawings - All students that sell one box of chocolate will have their names entered into the drawing. - Soccer - KMMS men soccer played East Lincoln yesterday at East Lincoln. EL scored the first 2 goals of the game. KMMS answered with a goal by Brandon Quevido-Johns. Chase Yow had the assist. Final score 1-3.
- Softball - Lost 10-0 in 5 innings. Makenna Deaton had two hits and Logan Locklair added one. Next game is Monday @ Shelby.

- School Dance - October 4th from 6-8pm - $5 admission - Students must be on level to attend! This will be our only fall dance. We will have a winter semi-formal dance in January and an end of school celebration in May.

- Cross Country - The cross country team concluded their season Monday at the conference meet run at North Lincoln. Ten teams participated, with the KMMS boys taking second place and the girls sixth. The boys were led by Bryson Key in 5th place overall, Landry Crawford in 7th, Thomas Harrison in 11th, Alec Bell in 12th, and John Harris in 25th. The girls were led by Georgia Moss 15th overall, followed by Caroline Foster, Baylee Marr, Belle Hollifield, and Savannah Slater. Congratulations to all of this year's runners.
- Golf - The golf team competed this week at the Lincoln Country Club. KM played well. Alex Goff and Tyler Withers led the way. Alex shot 35 and Tyler a 41. Harrison Conner and Chase Johnson both shot a 44. Overall team scores were KM 164, NL 176, and WL 191.
- Football - Mike Toms scored on 41yd TD run on the second play of the game. 2pt conversion Blanton to Toms. MiKe Collins scored on 55yd TD run and Landon Zanders 2pt run. Jerdon Pressley blocked a punt and Jonathan Rikard recovered for TD. Sabiem Beam 2pt conversion. Mike Collins scored again on 60yd punt return and 2pt failed. Mike Collins scored for the 3rd time on 6yd TD run and 2pt failed. Landon Zanders scored on 27yd TD run and 2pt failed. We play at home against Linc. on 10-9-13 Record 2-1 in division.

- Softball (from last week) - The Patriots were defeated by Burns, 18-9. Burns scored 6 runs in the first inning, but Kings Mountain answered with 7 in the second to take the lead. The score was tied 8-8 going into the sixth before Burns opened up the game. Catie Payne had three hits and Cassi Melton had two hits and scored three runs. Amya White also contributed two hits for Kings Mountain. Next game is Tuesday @ West Lincoln.
- Football (from last week) - EL scored twice in the first half leading us 14 to 0 before Hunter Blanton connected with Landry Crawford for a 55yd TD pass. 2pt conversion run by Sabiem Beam was good. Second half our defense played well making several big stops and giving us the ball with good field position for our second score on a end around 35 yd run by Landon Zanders and 2pt conversion failed. We got the ball back and had the ball on a good drive inside the EL 40yd line when penalties hurt us. Then defense gave up a 40yd run to win the game for EL. We are 1-1 in division and play WL at Home Wed 5:00.
- Cleveland County Cheer Off - Our cheerleaders did a fabulous job performing at the Cleveland County Fair last night! Thanks to everyone that came out to support our school!
